Overview
My Cancer eDiary ("the app") is a personal tracking tool for treatment appointments, symptoms, and cycle information related to cancer care. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is stored, shared, and controlled.
This app was built for personal and family use. It has no advertising, no analytics software, and no connection to any company server.
What information the app collects
The app collects only what you choose to type into it: things like appointment dates, treatment details, symptoms, and personal notes you add yourself. The app does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone, or any other device data, and does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or usage statistics.
Where your information is stored
By default, everything you enter is stored only on your device, in the app's local storage. Nothing is sent anywhere.
If you turn on Share with Family, your data syncs using Apple's CloudKit service, under your own personal iCloud account:
- Data is stored in your private iCloud database (the same underlying technology Apple uses for shared Notes and Reminders lists).
- No third-party server is ever involved. The app's developer does not operate a server and cannot access your data.
- Family members only gain access if you explicitly invite them through Apple's own share sheet, and only for as long as you keep sharing turned on.
Sharing with family members
Sharing is entirely opt-in and controlled by you. When you tap "Share with Family," Apple's standard share sheet lets you send an invite (via Messages, Mail, AirDrop, or a copied link). Anyone who accepts the invite can view and update the tracked information — this is intended for close family members or caregivers helping with treatment coordination. You can stop sharing at any time from iCloud sharing controls.
Your control over your data
- Export: you can export all of your data as a JSON backup file at any time.
- Import: you can restore data from a previously exported backup.
- Erase: the app includes an "Erase all data on this device" control that permanently deletes everything stored locally.
- Automatic backups: the app keeps a periodic snapshot in your private CloudKit data roughly every 48 hours, whether or not family sharing is enabled, so accidental changes can be undone. If family sharing is enabled, these snapshots are visible to everyone you've invited too. These snapshots are stored under the relevant Apple iCloud account(s) and are subject to the same access rules described above.
Third parties and advertising
The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking software development kits (SDKs), and does not sell or share your information with any third party. The only outside service the app uses is Apple's CloudKit, solely to sync your own data between your own devices and anyone you personally invite.
Children's privacy
This app is intended for adult use in managing personal or family medical care and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
